At Fit Right Alterations our goal is to provide quality clothing alterations and repairs at reasonable rates.

There are a few things that you, as a customer, should be aware of to make your clothing alteration turn out to your expectations.

Please wash or dry clean you new clothing before bringing them in to be altered. This ensures that your garments are pre-shrunk before they are altered.

Bring in your footwear that you will be wearing most of the time when you are having pants or long skirts or dresses pinned for hems.

We are not responsible for clothes left after 60 days.
Undergarments

Wear the undergarments you will be wearing with the garment being altered. This is very important for formal wear and bridal wear.

Government regulations require that all garments must be clean. Soiled garments will be returned unfinished.

A: Clothes shrink when they are washed or dry-cleaned so it is important to wash or dry-clean your clothes before they are altered. This way we can insure there are not any suprises and your clothes will fit properly.

Here are some of the natural and highly-processed natural fibers that shrink when laundered (washing and dry-cleaning):

  • silk
  • cotton
  • wool
  • linen
  • tencel
  • rayon
  • viscose
  • ramie
  • bamboo
  • hemp
  • angora
  • cashmere

Blends with any of the above fibers will shrink when laundered. Some blends with Lycra, Elastane or Spandex will shrink when laundered especially when subject to high heat. Nylon, mod-acrylic and other man-made fabrics may shrink when laundered. It is always wise to launder any garment before having it altered. That way the garment has done most of the shrinking it will do and there are no surprises when you continue to wash or dry clean the item. The list above is just a sample of the most common fibers in garments and is not a complete list by any means.

A: No you don't need an appointment, but you might on occasion, need to wait for a change room. If the regular store hours are inconvenient, please call and we can arrange a time for you to come in.

A: We will try to contact you by telephone at least three times to remind you. After 60 days if you have not picked up your items and all attempts to contact you have failed, your clothes will be donated to charity. Due to limited space, we can't store items longer than 60 days.
